ASEAN Federation of Land Surveying and Geomatics (ASEAN FLAG)
History
Some of you may or may not be aware that the Organisation of South East Asian Survey Congress (SEASC) was the brainchild of a group of enthusiastic land surveyors from South East Asia. In the late 1970s, the Institution of Surveyors, Australia expanded their meeting venue to Singapore, organizing the first SEASC with support from local surveyors and nearby countries. This marked the beginning of SEASC, which continued at regular intervals of 3 or 4 years, with subsequent congresses held in Bali, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. It was during one of these congresses that the idea of establishing a regional survey organization, the ASEAN Federation of Land Surveying and Geomatics (ASEAN FLAG), was proposed.
